The first thing to check is your DSL account Username and Password. If you have "Showtime" then you have a physical connection to the DSLAM at your service provider but you are not Authenticating with the server.
Access the Zoom Configuration Manager and click on the Basic Setup or ADSL Setup icon. If you are using PPPoE or PPPoA protocol, make sure that you have properly entered your Username and Password. Be careful of upper and lower case letters, as these can be case sensitive. An "A" (uppercase) may not be the same as an "a" (lowercase) in your Username and Password.
Remember to click Save Changes and Write Settings to Flash if you make any changes to the Basic Setup page.
If you still cannot browse the Internet, then you will need to contact your DSL service provider and verify the following information:
Username (Note: Ask if your Username should include the domain, e.g. email@example.com)
Protocol (PPPoE, PPPoA, or 1483 Bridged)
Encapsulation (LLC or VC-Mux)
We recommend that you perform a hard factory reset on the modem before you re-enter the Basic Setup settings. If you are not sure how to reset the modem, refer to FAQ 935 (X6 modems) or FAQ 796 (X3/X4/X5/X5v modems).
Power cycle the modem and wait for the DSL or LINK light to flash. When it does, access the Zoom Configuration Manager and click on the Basic Setup page. Use the Manual configuration and e-enter the above settings that were given to you by your DSL service provider.
After you have re-entered the settings, click on Save Changes and then Write Settings to Flash. Caution: DO NOT GO TO A DIFFERENT PAGE ON THE MODEM UNTIL YOU HAVE CLICKED ON BOTH OF THESE BUTTONS AS ANY INFORMATION YOU MAY HAVE LOADED WILL BE LOST!
Now click on System Status. If you have entered all the above correctly you should see a valid IP address in the WAN STATUS box. It should not be 0.0.0.0. Note: It may take up to 5 minutes for this to appear. Once you have an WAN IP Address you should now have Internet access
